I'll read some of them... tomo...Thanks, Enfant. I'll read some of them... tomorrow. Even at 10:00PM I feel as if someone has taken a sap and beaten me; the bruises aren't there, but after the blood spilling from my boot at the doctor's office, I have a very real sense tonight of having been beaten up. I suppose I might as well get used to it, if I'm going to keep saying acerbic things in print.

What is happening in Greece is happening in the US. The nature and the specific consequences may differ, but the underlying motives for state violence against the press and against dissenters never really change: they want to shut us down.

Part of me says my problems will be alleviated in part if President Obama wins the election, and greatly exacerbated if Mr. Rmoney wins. But a bigger part of me knows that the problems are woven into the fabric of any attempt at democracy, including yours and including mine. Our forbears did pretty well under their circumstances; nothing lasts forever, and now it's time for us to do as well as we can under our circumstances. Mostly I regret being old and infirm when we face this... there was a time when I relished the battle, but with boot and cane or walker, I don't have quite the same enthusiasm for it.

Off to bed for me...Steve Bateshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07587223243120009776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872647804241988041.post-56797204487592879682012-10-31T15:21:14.475-05:002012-10-31T15:21:14.475-05:00Another Greek Myth: Freedom of the Press
