I haven't seen him since then, but it appears Chris did well in his subsequent career. Chris was what the Austrians called a Zwischenfach ("between categories" ... neither bass nor tenor), but had one of the most glorious voices I've ever heard, and the dramatic craft to go with it. His teacher back in those days was another famous Greek singer, Elena Nikolaidi.Steve Bateshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07587223243120009776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872647804241988041.post-73365697627602288972012-06-04T18:19:21.760-05:002012-06-04T18:19:21.760-05:00"Shiny objects" indeed, ntodd... objects..."Shiny objects" indeed, ntodd... objects that Mittens cares nothing for. As hollow shells in the GOP go, they don't get much emptier than Mitt. If he becomes president, I do not know how I can bear to see his perfect grinning face every day. It's not just that he's rich; inevitably, as things are today, every president has to be at least well-off even to run for the office. No, it's that Mitt is cold... cold in the manner of, say, Karl Rove... when it comes to basic human compassion. Mitt is dog-on-the-roof-of-the-car cold.

And Mitt is a proper symbol of the GOP today: they have become something that Abraham Lincoln and Young Bob La Follette would be ashamed of. Hell, I think even Barry Goldwater would be ashamed of them if he were alive today.Steve Bateshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07587223243120009776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872647804241988041.post-5126493925282864492012-06-04T16:12:45.547-05:002012-06-04T16:12:45.547-05:00Constitutions, rights, rule of law, social contrac...Constitutions, rights, rule of law, social contract...all shiny objects!ntoddhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01068160577299501895noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-872647804241988041.post-57102676759824110902012-06-04T13:52:14.203-05:002012-06-04T13:52:14.203-05:00My Greek neighbors in Ann Arbor were fantastic.
