Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Proposes Allowing Alcoholic Beverage Sales At Gun Shows

It's AP, so the quote here must be very short...
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas could start allowing alcohol sales at gun shows provided they don't allow live ammunition or let buyers take possession of their weapons at the events.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission announced the proposal Friday. It will hold a 30-day public comment period before any change is made.

Drunks with Guns???

The recipe is simple: Guns... Gun nuts enthusiasts... Booze... Shake vigorously in a closed container. What could possibly go wrong?

My maternal grandparents were farmers in a small red-dirt East Texas town, Their total livelihood was their farm, plus whatever Pop could bag when he hunted in the woods on his property. They truly needed a gun. Actually, Pop owned several.

But their grandson has always been a big city dweller. My meals come entirely from the grocer; the hunt plays no part in them. The American tradition of gun ownership endangers my life every time I go out at night. No matter what the NRA claims, there are very few contexts in which the presence of guns makes a city dweller safer. And the notion from post-colonial days that gun ownership ensures one's right of revolution... oh, please, give me a break! Those times have been gone for at least a century; even with all those privately owned guns sitting around, our government does what our government damned well pleases.

I wish today's Americans wouldn't act like such utter idiots.
