Merry Christmas

Why is the Star so seldom shown
at the left of the picture?
... to all my Christian relatives and friends. A belated Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends. To the rest of my friends, Happy Festivus, or Winter Solstice, or Samhain, or NODWISH (NOn-Denominational WInter Solstice Holiday) as appropriate.

Oh... and to Bill O'Reilly, Happy Holidays!

  1. Happy/Merry/Joyous the reason of your choice to you and yours from me and the cats.

The star is supposedly in the East, which would mean they had to be traveling from Egypt, although it is implied that the Magi are also from the East, but that doesn't make sense. Logically the star has to be on the left to show three riders strung out, centered to show the riders riding abreast. It's art not history, so it doesn't have to make any real sense.

Thank you for dampening O'Rielly's yule log ;)

    1. Thanks, Bryan. I suppose even the Middle East has a history of North-centeredness. An Aussie colleague of mine once brought and posted a map of Australia with South on the top; we had it on the office wall for several years.

After following that (expletive deleted) star for so long, I am sure the three riders were indeed "strung out"!
