...Hmm. Does that mean Benghazi-gate will see a lot of GOPers out of the corridors of power and perhaps into jail cells? Don't hold your breath...
During an appearance on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Woodward said he disagreed with the notion that the controversy surrounding the deadly attack is motivated purely by politics. He said that the emails detailing the revised Benghazi talking points reminded him of Watergate transcripts that were selectively edited by former President Richard Nixon.
"I have to go back 40 years to Watergate when Nixon put out his edited transcripts of the conversations and he personally went through them and said, 'Oh, let's not tell this, let's not show this,'" Woodward recalled. "I would not dismiss Benghazi. It's a very serious issue."

Equivalent to Watergate. Except, y'know, not covering up a crime, like a third rate burglary. Or even a stinkin' blow job. But just like Watergate. Except, y'know, like everything about Watergate.
ReplyDeleteAlrighty, then!
'tux, apparently it's the new GOPer talking point. Now Rep. Steve King (R-Stupidity) is claiming the same thing. GOPers will be looking for something "worse than Watergate" until the last living person who actually remembers Watergate dies.
DeleteWell the CIA wanted to cover up the fact that Benghazi was actually their installation with cover provided by the State Department.
ReplyDeleteThe politics were the Republican distortions of the e-mails to make the situation into something it wasn't, and the press should identify the people who did it if they want to retain any semblance of credibility with their audience. But that would mean they would lose a lot of bogus 'scoops', so they won't.
[Ratfrans this ?! What kind of Captcha is that?]
Bryan, those emails seem to have been rewritten by GOPers prior to leaking. See my newer post on the subject.
