Beer And Wine Ban In S. Carolina

People I've known in South Carolina don't generally deserve the stereotyping often applied to them that they are too stupid to get up in the morning. But sometimes you wonder...

D'oh! South Carolina Inadvertently Bans Beer And Wine Permits

Oops, looks like it could be a pretty dry month in South Carolina. A new law authored by state Rep. Mike Pitts (R) inadvertently bans businesses and individuals from obtaining temporary beer and wine permits.

Need some spare cash for the holidays? yes? Have any scruples against bootlegging? no? Have I got a job for you...

  1. My grandmother started out her career as an school teacher somewhere in Moonshine land. She could tell when the Feds were in the area by the drunk cows. The moonshiners would throw the mash on the fields to get rid of the evidence and the cows would eat it.

  3. ellroon - cool! I'm pretty sure my paternal grandfather bought from bootleggers, but I don't think he was a bootlegger, more's the pity. I never met the fellow; he absquatulated before I was born.

    (Pauses for a swallow of cheap wine...)

    jams - ROTFLMFAO! I hadn't thought of that show in literally decades!

    mandt - yes, it was, wasn't it? I oppose prohibition in all its forms. I don't use modern recreational drugs mainly because the local DA is so proactive in prosecuting... and continues to be elected because of that... but I absolutely disbelieve in jailing anybody because of what they consumed or what they sold for consumption (within reasonable limits: it's pretty hard to justify selling crystal meth).
