Trickle-down economics is the first cousin of austerity economics. Austerity is nuts when so many millions are out of work. And as we’ve learned before, trickle-down is a fraud. Nothing ever trickles down. - Robert Reich, "A Story for May Day"
We may have democracy, or we may have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both. - Justice Louis Brandeis

They are 'assuming' Romney will not finish the presidency.
ReplyDeleteEnfant - Ryan's mother has no worries, with or without Medicare. They are a wealthy family; no doubt they hire their own choice of doctors, hospitals etc. We should all be so fortunate.
ReplyDeletekarmanot - you may be right. Or they may be counting on the American people's aversion to change. Remember the purported slogan of Richard Nixon running for his second term: "Dick Nixon in '72 / Don't change dicks in the middle of a screw!"
ReplyDeleteOh, and karmanot - remember many of us said that George H.W. Bush picked Dan Quayle as life insurance. Hmm, I wonder if Rmoney has really thought this through... I would not put it past the Kochs to hire someone, and you know they'd never be caught or prosecuted...
ReplyDelete... they'd probably hire that famous Russian guy, Bumpoff...
ReplyDeletekarmanot is right!
ReplyDelete"They are 'assuming' Romney will not finish the presidency" although he seems in good health.... with all the "selected medicare" he has..

Thanks, Enfant; I'll read them over the course of the afternoon and evening. You're doing a lot of research, and of course I appreciate your efforts!
ReplyDeleteEnfant, many doctors refuse to accept Medicare-only patients (yes, amazingly, doctors here may legally do that) and the number of such doctors is increasing, but you may be sure that Rmoney and his kin privately hire the best docs. Medicare is no issue for him personally. Given the kind of person he is, it's no issue for him politically; he just wants to get rid of it.
ReplyDeleteIt's increasingly common for doctors in CA to reject medicare/Medicaid. When I was in the hospital last year for heart problems, the Dr. that treated me and scheduled follow up visits, told me in the waiting room of his office that he didn't take Medicare, and left me dangling for weeks without care until I found a cardiologist that did.
