Rmoney's 'Shiny Objects'

Via Attaturk of FDL, we have this delightful [/snark] Raw Story of Rmoney's flack Eric Fehrnstrom, who has something to tell us about Rmoney's position on classic women's issues:
“Mitt Romney is pro-life,” the senior adviser admitted to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “He’ll govern as a pro-life president, but you’re going to see the Democrats use all sorts of shiny objects to distract people’s attention from the Obama performance on the economy. This is not a social issue election.”
Attention, Republican women (yes, you... both of you who are reading this site): Mitt Rmoney sees you as a "shiny object" and a "distract[ion]." What about that? Do you like the role Rmoney has assigned to you? Right. Remember that assignment when you go to the polls in November.

  2. Enfant, Stephanopoulos used to be a good Democrat back in the Clinton presidency; then George joined the mainstream media, and it was all over... :-)

I grew up next door to a Greek-American family; their sons were my childhood playmates and eventually followed their father into the family business (dentistry). So I have good things to say about the Greeks I have personally known! :-)

Of course, "blood runs thinner than money"!

  4. My Greek neighbors in Ann Arbor were fantastic. The parties, the food, the celebrations included all generations. When my partner died they threw a neighborhood wake. When times were tough they never failed.I will never forget them.

  6. "Shiny objects" indeed, ntodd... objects that Mittens cares nothing for. As hollow shells in the GOP go, they don't get much emptier than Mitt. If he becomes president, I do not know how I can bear to see his perfect grinning face every day. It's not just that he's rich; inevitably, as things are today, every president has to be at least well-off even to run for the office. No, it's that Mitt is cold... cold in the manner of, say, Karl Rove... when it comes to basic human compassion. Mitt is dog-on-the-roof-of-the-car cold.

And Mitt is a proper symbol of the GOP today: they have become something that Abraham Lincoln and Young Bob La Follette would be ashamed of. Hell, I think even Barry Goldwater would be ashamed of them if he were alive today.

  7. And speaking of Greek-Americans, there was my college classmate, baritone Chris Trakas... that was the sound of one name dropping, but Chris really did hang out with a group of my friends at University of Houston when I studied music. I haven't seen him since then, but it appears Chris did well in his subsequent career. Chris was what the Austrians called a Zwischenfach ("between categories" ... neither bass nor tenor), but had one of the most glorious voices I've ever heard, and the dramatic craft to go with it. His teacher back in those days was another famous Greek singer, Elena Nikolaidi.
